Dune: House Secrets to Release Mid-October

The latest Dune inspired boardgame, Dune: House Secrets is set to premiere on October 15 2021 at Essen Spiel. This release is the first of three anticipated volumes in a story-driven cooperative game by Portal Games, based on the breakout success of their Detective game system.

Players take on the role of rebels in the resistance against House Harkonnen. The game is played through the completion of missions with limited time and resources, such that it will be impossible experience every encounter, and the story will change as you make hard decisions and sacrifices along the way.

Out of the box, the game will consist of three episodic adventures, each taking 2-3 hours to play. During each episode, players can earn experience points to level up their characters in between missions and unlock new options in future episodes. Each adventure can be played separately as a stand-alone experience. Yet should players complete all three episodes, they will unravel a master game narrative with an epic climax and lasting impact on the two future games in Portal’s planned Dune trilogy.

Portal Games is renowned for its motto: “Board Games That Tell Stories”, and given that this game is proudly inspired by the upcoming film, we can anticipate a narrative-driven, immersive experience.

Like Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game before it, the game will use a variety of physical and digital game components to explore the unfolding narrative, including a deck of cards with essential clues and plot twists, physical handouts, and a dedicated website with assorted videos and additional resources.

The pre-order campaign will begin on July 12, 2021, so fans are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter on the Dune: House Secrets website and be first to hear all the latest updates.
