By any measure, Wingspan is the 2019 Game of the Year

With 120,000 copies sold and back-orders almost since the moment of printing, Wingspan is officially the number one bestselling board game of the 2019.

Designer Elizabeth Hargrave from Stonemaier Games was featured on the the radio program Here & Now (listen below), where she discussed the evolution and development of the concept.

“The game came out of a conversation with some friends about why there weren’t more games with themes that we’re actually interested in. Why do we always play games about things we don’t care about, like medieval farming?”

In some ways, Wingspan is a surprise boardgame hit, especially for a first time designer. Wingspan is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game, with elaborate components and breathtaking art design. You play a bird enthusiast, who’s goal is attract the rarest and most valuable birds to your network of wildlife preserves.

The Game won the coveted 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres – the prize for the world’s best game for gaming connoisseurs.
