The digital adaptation of the number one ranked board game of all time, Gloomhaven, will launch on Steam on July 17th. The much anticipated release “Early Access” release will see the tactical combat and dungeon-crawler made available in an exclusive Adventure Mode for early adopters.

The Adventure Mode will consist of four of the starting six playable characters who are able to seek adventure on a unique map environment created in conjunction with the game designer Isaac Childres. Adventure mode will have the exact same core gameplay as the board game, but with procedurally generated scenarios, and an alternative reward structure to upgrade items and character abilities.

The early access release will be cheaper, and purchasers will receive the all of the additional content created during development at no additional cost. Buying the early access version will give full access to the game and its contents for free at Full Release.

How long do we have to wait for the full boardgame? According to the early access roadmap published by the game designers, both the Tinkerer and Mindthief will be available by the end of 2019, and additional content will be released throughout 2020 that will eventually make the mammoth 95-mission campaign of the board game possible.

Gloomhaven Roadmap

Th entire campaign as well as the multiplayer coop system will be available at full release, although the timeline for that has not yet been established. The developers are looking to remain in an early access release for at least 9-12 months to allow for community input to the development of content, including the promise of new features which don’t already exist within the board game.\

All of the details are available at the official Gloomhaven Website here.
